The Tribune gave us 10 different ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s day – we’ve covered 10 – 5. Today we are going to finish it off with 4 more great suggestions (these from your Lexington Inn SLO blogger).
Number 4: Find an Irish Poet and your favorite passage of his/her work. Get out into God’s green hills, bring your special person (or do it alone), and read/share the thoughts of some of the Irish’s greatest thinkers. There are too many to list. Although they tend to be a bit depressive in their thoughts, they have a gift for crafting the words into lyrical beauties.
Number 3: Corny as it is, dress yourself up in a green fancy outfit. You’re sure to get many happy glances and plenty of opportunities for conversation.
Number 2: Invite all your friends over for an Irish Night! Of coarse there is the standard corned beef and cabbage, but what about the music, the art, and the legends of the Irish? Who wouldn’t be thrilled to be a part of a party to celebrate the Irish? All it takes is a little planning (perhaps ask each guest to bring an Irish artifact, poem, legend, or side of food). The evening will be a hit as everyone shares and learns from each other. Hint: this was one of the best parties I’ve ever attended!
Number 1: Find the Leprechaun in you and bestow something magical on one worthy. It’s sad that magic doesn’t happen more often to us ordinary folks. On St. Patrick’s Day, find your magic and make someone’s day truly special. Be it a secret getaway, a favorite poem, an unexpected surprise – or anything that brings a huge and heartfelt smile to the recipient. Best of all you get to share the excitement and fun!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day from us at Hotel Buena Vista SLO!
