How about a visit to the History Center of San Luis Obispo?
Located just behind Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolousa, the History Center of San Luis Obispo is a beautiful piece of architecture (William Weeks, architect) and a Carnegie granted institution all in one. The Center houses a rotating exhibit of local history and has an extensive research room filled with correspondences, newspapers, directories, maps and more. It is a wonderful source for historic photos and catalogues to view the people and culture of San Luis Obispo.
The History Center is open Wednesday through Monday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – admission is free. Learn more by calling the Center at 805.543.0638
